I subscribed to write.as because I believe in supporting distributed, open projects. Instead of having to live with “You only have 3 free articles left!” news sites should offer their “goods” for free and allow for other perks like direct chat with authors, or the ability to submit articles themselves. This idea of trying to hold back content just for paying people is not how the web works. Instead, they should offer services, convenience, packaging, extra content like seeing articles as rough drafts, or “director's cuts” of stories that are long form. Stop trying to nickel and dime folks to death and offer real value!
The distributed web will act as a counter force to all the negative and divisive news and opinions on the web. Centralized news sources will have to start engaging with distributed sources and allow for all voices to be heard, not just the divisive and angry content. Sites like twitter, facebook, and google will either adapt to the new distributed web or be eventually replaced.
We must allow dweb technology to flourish and not be captured by big companies prematurely, as they will seek to exert control over them just as they do now with centralization.

I've been coding all weekend to great success, but tonight I cannot put two characters together in code. That's why you need to work when the brain is on fire and inspiration strikes
Writing is something that you should do every day, as a way to keep your thoughts straight, and your heart clear of distractions.
