I love games, especially RPG's. However I've never really liked multiplayer games – even MMO's give me a kind of competitive vibe that turns me off big time. If a major game comes out that's “only” multiplayer, my interest drops dramatically.
I'm not sure why this is the case, other than what I think happened to me when I was younger. I went to Catholic school as a little kid, and often I would find myself alone during recess. I had friends, sorta, but when it came to playing in games with other kids, I was always the last one picked for the softball game, or the one everyone blasted first in dodge ball, so that the “real kids” could finish playing.
I think because of this, my taste for interacting with others in a competitive way was soured. However, some of the most fulfilling experiences I've had online were when I was in a game that started you out as a clueless newbie, and when you encounter another player, if they want, they can guide you through a set of tasks, and it turns you into a “real” player with skills, magic, etc. And you are forever bound in a positive way to your “mentor” as well as all your “classmates” that go through the process with you. I think it really struck me because it was the first time in an online game that something other than blasting or somehow exploiting someone else was rewarded in a game.
Most mobile games now are about Clash of Clans, PVP in 3 minute doses that give you some kind of enforced ranking. This is so unappealing. I wonder if someone came up with a multiplayer game where you had to somehow help each other, or lift up someone less fortunate than you (another newbie?) how popular it might be.
I know I'd play it.
Godot will continue to be an amazing open source project that allows anyone to learn and make games. I am happy to have been able to discover it so early in it's career that I feel like I can actually be someone who gets to share it with new developers. If you haven't tried it yet, I encourage you to go download it and play around. After a short learning curve, it's perfect for prototyping games, and it has the chops to make full, commercial games for free!
Today ... wife has lots of chores lined up, but I also want to write. Sometimes you need to realize that “down time” is just as important as “up time”. When you have down times, use that to plan things, organize your thoughts, reflect on your past week, and make plans. Actions without plans are like flailing your arms in water. You will only stay afloat at best and at worst you'll waste energy and be too tired to swim when you need to. Be thoughtful, deliberate, stoic, and patient.

Working on my next #godotengine tutorial, part 3 this weekend. Hoping I can maintain a post a week. Really happy to resume my dreams of writing, game making, and coding for the web.
I subscribed to write.as because I believe in supporting distributed, open projects. Instead of having to live with “You only have 3 free articles left!” news sites should offer their “goods” for free and allow for other perks like direct chat with authors, or the ability to submit articles themselves. This idea of trying to hold back content just for paying people is not how the web works. Instead, they should offer services, convenience, packaging, extra content like seeing articles as rough drafts, or “director's cuts” of stories that are long form. Stop trying to nickel and dime folks to death and offer real value!
The distributed web will act as a counter force to all the negative and divisive news and opinions on the web. Centralized news sources will have to start engaging with distributed sources and allow for all voices to be heard, not just the divisive and angry content. Sites like twitter, facebook, and google will either adapt to the new distributed web or be eventually replaced.
We must allow dweb technology to flourish and not be captured by big companies prematurely, as they will seek to exert control over them just as they do now with centralization.

Working on a simple Godot game. Learning this engine is like learning javascript all over again.
I've been coding all weekend to great success, but tonight I cannot put two characters together in code. That's why you need to work when the brain is on fire and inspiration strikes
